Rooms getting done

Finally putting the finishing touches on some rooms. Seems like we get 90% done, then get distracted and move onto something else. Ha. So family room is finally done. Just hung the curtains. The dining room is basically done other than wanting to hang a family picture canvas on the wall to the left, but we'll have to wait until spring to take it. Also the house across the street from us is almost done. Hope everyone else's progress is going well, and with any luck Spring is around the corner. (Again just crappy cellphone pics)

    1. Kathy. Thank you so much. That's exactly what we were shooting for. We want simple and understated. Not overly dark, or wild or trend colors. The color in the pictures is Sherwin Williams Alpaca. It's a light warm grey. In the pictures it can look more tan. When we're all done I'll have Bridget take pictures with her professional camera so it looks better.

    1. Thanks Ritz. Was definitely a splurge on our end, but we wanted something we will keep for a long time. We went with the motto of "do it right the first time". Instead of buying something cheap, have it fall apart in a few years, then spend even more money to replace. Will also follow your blog! Hope all goes well.

  5. Everything looks awesome! I adore the chairs in your dining room!

Oh, and you guys got the upgraded hardwood flooring, right? I wanted to ask you guys about how it's holding up to your dogs (I think I remember you guys saying you have German Shepherds). As you saw, we have to replace our formaldehyde laced flooring sold by Lumber Liquidators, and now I want to go natural with real wood but I'm scared it won't hold up to my two lunatics at home. Any tips on types of flooring that hold up to dogs? I know you guys have done remodeling/flooring in the past too!

    1. Hey Lauren!!

This flooring they installed is hand scraped. It will be your best bet with dogs because of the already "distressed" nature. If it does scratch Jim bought a touch up marker that matches perfectly. I can't even tell where some of the marks were... Lol.

It would probably be your best bet to get something like this for the dogs. Ours is Armstrong Rural Living Deep Java.

We have neighbors that took the 1st upgrade which is your standard high gloss hardwood. They told us between the kids and dogs it looks horrible already. We couldn't be happier with our choices.

I'm so sorry about your flooring. That is such a horrible company. 😞
