It's packing day... :(

The day has finally arrived... Packing day!

I've been packing pretty much the past few weeks so it hasn't been horrendous. It still sucks. I wish I could snap my fingers and it all be in boxes... Wishful thinking.

In happier news our SR emailed me yesterday to say that she would call us after the production meeting today to give us a start date. I'm not kidding when I tell you guys that I believe this may be the slowest community Ryan has built. I know we had a brutal winter so there was a backlog but this is ridiculous.  I try not to get too excited when I see everyone else's blog with homes flying up. For example, the house across the street from us had the foundation poured about two weeks ago. They laid down the initial lumber over the top, but that is it. We have had great weather this whole time as well! Who knows. I don't want them to rush, but I also know they aren't a custom home builder.

My buddy isn't impressed with our boxes...

Hope you all have a good Monday!

  1. I like the quote on your box. lol. Man, I've been packing myself also... there's so much little things that I have... I promised myself that I won't become a hoarder in the new house. Packing is easy but unpacking is going to be time consuming since I have to think of where to put the items. BLAH! Good luck on your packing day!

    1. Kimmie-

I think the BEST part of all of this is being able to throw so much away! I've been going through cabinets like, " did I really buy this?"... It's been slightly liberating.

The best part will be the sheer volume of cabinets in the new house! I have no pantry now, and about 10 cabinets. It's been so TIGHT in here. I can't shop at SAM's club or Costco because there is zero room! I can not wait for the storage in the new house!

    2. GASP. I love Costco. I can't wait to get his bench from them to put in the mudroom. Cabinets! Don't put any junk in there! Haha It defeats the purpose of throwing out the old stuff! But I'm with you, I threw away bunch of stuff that's just collecting dust. lol

  2. I think they have to wait for the concrete to cure before they can start putting some serious loads on the foundation. In our development, we've seen about two weeks from pouring the walls to the start of framing.
The waiting is the hardest part, my wife and I signed our contract at the end of March and just had our pre-con meeting last week. Hang in there.

  3. Good for you for starting the packing process! We definitely have not started this but I'm the ultimate procrastinator! I saw your conversation with Kimmie and I CANNOT WAIT to have cabinet space either! Right now our cabinets are stuffed and I can't handle it anymore! haha! I hope they get started on your house ASAP. Waiting is the worst!
