Small sample of our selections

I'm sure Bridget will go into more detail, but here's a small sample of our choices.

Exterior: Front full brick - Boral Falls Canyon. Sides Hardiboard Khaki color and almond trim. Brown shutters and door will be painted "Outer space".

Interior: Whole first floor Armstrong hand scraped deep java (level B)
Bathroom tile went grey based. (Level C)
Carpet: mid level pad and level 2 carpet, color Slivered Almond.
Cabinets: White Rushmore
Countertops: Some laminate. Lol. We will be doing aftermarket granite because we will be saving about $2000 aftermarket. Probably go with Azul Platino which we put in this picture.

Overall we only went slightly over our original budget. The biggest cost was upgrading to the hand scraped, but to do the whole first floor was "only" an extra $1800. But I figure it's money well spent since it would cost more to rip up and replace later ourselves.

  1. The color of your brick.... breathtaking! I CANNOT wait to see the finished product with that. Oh my goodness, I've never seen that color before. Hands down, my favorite. If our development were to do brick siding, that is the color for me! Love seeing that we have many similarities in the cabinet colors, granite, tile!! :) and those wood floors.. I did not know the name, but after seeing you post them those were the floors that were our second option had we not gone with gray. I really cannot wait to see you all start to break ground! I will be anticipating your posts because we have no time frame for ground breaking at this time ourselves and I am simply excited. But closing by Christmas at least for the both of us? Yes, please! :)

    1. Michelle- do you guys have any hint when the start date will be? Is your community brand new with no pre existing homes?

I ask because out in our neck of the woods Ryan picks up develpments that didn't make it through the housing crash. I guess this is economically feasible for them because the infrastructure is already in place, they just get to come in and build.

  2. We really liked it too. I didn't think we'd ever be able to do a full brick front, but with their incentive, it couldn't be beat. What I like about it is the exterior will look traditional and shouldn't look dated years down the road. There's a few "trendy" houses in our neighborhood going up that I think look good now, like with an earthy green siding with stone work, etc., but I worry 5-10 years down the road, it will look like it was a trend. We'll definitely be following your blog and hope everything goes smooth too.

  3. Also really liked your floors. We were lucky in a sense with the brick choices, we really didn't like any of them other than the one we picked, so there wasn't much back and forth.

  4. Hi, we just purchased in Shorewood and I have a question about your flooring price. How did you come to $1800 extra. Does that include wood flooring in the living room, dining room, family room and morning room? Just curious as we were quoted $3500 to upgrade wood floor in the family room. We are doing the 5" wood floor. Thanks!

  5. Hi Scott. I reread and I should probably have clarified better. The $1800 was the extra price to upgrade from the lower level wood after adding the price for the whole first floor to then upgrade to the next level up. I'd have to look at my paperwork. Yes we had to add wood to the family, dining, morning and living rooms.

    1. I thought that was you guys! Did you decide on a brick? You are building a Naples too, right?

  7. Hey Bridget, Yes, we are building a Naples and I can't think of the brick name off the top of my head but it's the same brick on the Rome model in the subdivision. We are going with green door and shutters. So frazzled with all these decisions! LOL!

    1. That's definitely the hard part. Trying to pick everything and then second guessing yourself daily. Lol. I think we went back and forth so many times... Lol!
